Resumo

A detailed study of the problem in the quality of biodiesels is that they are present as a mixture of fatty acid esters, obtained by synthesis from vegetable oils or animal fats. In the case of myrtle, oil has in its composition approximately 75% acid Lican, with small amounts of palmitic, stearic, oleic and linoleic acids. This high percentage served as an incentive to carry out this work consisted of the collection and treatment of seeds, hot oil extraction and synthesis of biodiesel with him followed by the determination of the physicochemical characteristics of both. The results of the analysis in oil and biodiesel were compared and indicated that crossover occurs from the chains of methyl esters for biodiesel, and this change is mainly related to the chemical structure Lican acid and its conjugated double bonds. The values of physic-chemical properties of biodiesel, acidity and water and sediment are within those recommended by the ANP, but the density is allowed outside.
