Resumo

This study aimed to obtain biodiesel from transesterification of Jatropha oil with iodine sublimated, and the influence of reaction time (in the range 1-4 hours) the conversion into methyl esters using the technique of thermogravimetric analysis. The results show no correlation between the increase in reaction time with increasing content of methyl esters obtained. The physico-chemical properties of biodiesels showed that it can be used as fuel, however, it is necessary to reduce the kinematic viscosity and acid value for a biofuel production of good quality. The analysis of TG can be used to monitor the reaction and identifies the presence of moisture, solvent, glycerol esters, mono, di and triglycerides and charred residues or polymerized in the analysis.
