Phytoremediation is a bioremediation technique, in which use is made of plants for the decontamination of environments. In aquatic environments, phytoremediation can be carried out by aquatic weeds, being a very efficient technique, ecological and inexpensive. Thus, the aim of this study was to evaluate the phytoremediation potential of aquatic weeds species Pistia stratiotes present in the River Apodi/MossoroÌ in relation to Br, Ca, Fe, K, Mn, Rb, S, Si, Sr, Zn, P, Ti, Cl, Cu, Ba, Ni, Y, V, Zr, Al, Cr, I, Pd and As. Were determined Br, Ca, Fe, K, Mn, Rb, S, Si, Sr , Zn, P, Ti, Cl, Cu, Ba, Ni, Y, V, Zr, Al and Cr in the water of the River Apodi/MossoroÌ and plant tissue of aquatic weeds of Pistia stratiotes species present in the same location from the method X-Rays Fluorescence. Generally, the absorption of the elements varied according to its classification and the potential remedial Pistia stratiots. From the factors translocation it was observed that strontium and chlorine are elements with higher percentages. According to the bioaccumulation factor, which had highlighted element was manganese, a micronutrient. Therefore, from the large number of elements identified in the water of the River Apodi/MossoroÌ and plant tissue of Pistia stratiotes it can be concluded that this aquatic macrophyte can be used in phytoremediation processes of natural environments.
