With the unrestrained increase of pollution in the environment, phytoremediation has been prominent in the area of environmental recovery, as it is a promising process of decontamination. For this reason, the objective of this work was to determine the phytoremediate potential of the aquatic macrophyte of the Eichhornia crassipes species present in the Apodi/MossoroÌ river at a specific point in the city of MossoroÌ-RN in relation to the contents of some chemical elements using the Fluorescence technique of X-ray and also to verify the temporal influence in the obtained results. Three collections were carried out in the months of September, October, and November of the year 2015, containing samples of water from the Apodi/MossoroÌ river basin and aquatic macrophytes, in the section of the river that crosses the city of MossoroÌ. From the obtained results, 24 elements were quantified, of which only 16 were possible to calculate the translocation and bioaccumulation factors. Thus, based on the factors of translocation and bioaccumulation, the species studied presented a great potential to be used as phytoremediation agent in eutrophic environments of all the elements quantified, as a function of the accumulated concentrations in their tissue, which is influenced significantly by the temporality.
