Study of environmental feasibility for the creation of a conservation unit in Buraco da Onça, Saloá/Paranatama–PE

Given the constant advance of anthropogenic activity over the natural environment, it has become necessary to develop effective strategies for environmental preservation and conservation. In Brazil, the National System of Conservation Units (SNUC) stands out as an important instrument for the creation and management of protected areas. In this context, this research aims to analyze the environmental potential of Buraco da Onça, located between the municipalities of Saloá and Paranatama, for its possible transformation into a Conservation Unit (CU), considering its natural characteristics and its relevance for the protection of the existing natural resources. For this analysis, the study was based on the criteria established by the Ministry of the Environment (MMA) for the creation and recognition of protected areas, through which bibliographic surveys, cartographic production using QGIS software, and field visits were carried out, allowing the identification of the environmental attributes and potentialities present in the study area. The results revealed the environmental and landscape relevance of the site, as well as its fragilities and anthropogenic pressures, highlighting the need for measures aimed at its protection and environmental maintenance.
