Abstract

The present article aims at approaching Sylvia Plath"™s novel, The Bell Jar, under the perspective of a confessional and autobiographical poetics. For this end, our main objective is to investigate the author"™s presence in the literary text, and in what ways real events are transfigured into fictional matter. Having these goals in mind, excerpts of the novel will be analysed and discussed on the basis of theoretical assumptions proposed by authors such as Beach (2003), De Man (1985), and Derrida (1984).
