Abstract

The article aims to discuss the internalization of technical and higher education in Pau dos Ferros in Rio Grande do Norte, being an educational hub in the internal border region of Alto Oeste Potiguar (AOP), made up of the boundaries between three states, in addition to municipalities in RN, those in Ceará and Paraíba. It uses theoretical methodological research, fieldwork, and data analysis from institutions located in the study area, namely: IFRN, FACEP, UERN and UFERSA. We conclude that through the policies of internalization and expansion of technical and higher education implemented in Pau dos Ferros, especially after the 2000s, forming in the internal border region of Alto Oeste Potiguar, as the origin of those enrolled exceed the political limits of the states and municipalities.

CARLA CAMILA GOMES FREITAS, UNIVERSIDADE ESTADUAL DO CEARÁ

Graduated in Geography - Full Degree at the State University of Rio Grande do Norte (UERN), campus of Pau dos Ferros-RN. Master in the Postgraduate Program in Planning and Territorial Dynamics in the Semiarid (PLANDITES) by the same University. Doctoral student in the Graduate Program in Geography ProPGeo at the State University of Ceará. Member of the Nucleus of Studies in Agrarian and Regional Geography (NuGAR). He is interested in the following topics: Migration, Population Mobility, Semiarid Region, Northeast Region, Border Region and Internal Border, Expansion and Interiorization of Higher Education.
