Place as the art of living: cutting and pasting as a participatory planning strategy

Citizen participation in territorial planning is becoming increasingly important in order to build a place that meets the specific needs of the living, giving a voice to those who have historically been silenced, and seeking to solve their daily problems. To this end, our aim is to problematize the importance of citizen participation in discussions about territorial planning. Methodologically, we carried out the workshop “PENSANDO MEU LUGAR” (THINKING ABOUT MY PLACE) at the Nossa Senhora das Dores Municipal School, with the aim of delving into the nuances of citizen participation, focusing on the territorial experience of the Nordeste district, in the West Administrative Zone of Natal. In this sense, young people aged between 10 and 12 expressed their daily lives and experiences in their place, from problems to prospects for the future, telling us about the territory and their specific needs in the collective and individual spheres.
