AS FESTAS JUNINAS, NOVOS CENÁRIOS E SUA ESPETACULARIZAÇÃO: UM OLHAR GEOGRÁFICO DO FESTIVAL FOLCLÓRICO DO MUNICÍPIO DE TRACUATEUA, PARÁ

Abstract

This article concerns the investigation of the symbolic representation of the festive period of São João in the municipality of Tracuateua, Northeast of the state of Pará (PA), specifically the “XXVII Festival Folclórico de Tracuateua”, which took place in June 2022. Over time, they lost the characteristics of countryside parties and acquired festival formats and show configurations, giving new dynamics and functionalities to the space where they take place, with the intention of attracting the public. The objective of the research is to carry out a reading, through the perceptions of the visitors, of the new scenarios and spatial dynamics in the period of the June festival in Tracuateua, as well as to map the place where the celebration takes place. This research presents a qualitative approach and semi-structured interviews as a methodological contribution. The empirical phase of the research took place in June 2022, in Tracuateua, PA. It is concluded that visitors identify with some spaces that refer to their past, the culture of their lived spaces represented in the city of June of the XXVII Folkloric Festival of Tracuateua and that the insertion of new scenarios of the aforementioned festival, which mix tradition and spectacularization, strengthens the local identity, the affective side and the territorial issue, but it does not project the festival to a fully regional or national scale.
