Abstract

Malala Yousafzai, a Pakistani activist for women's rights and education in her native country, is the youngest person to date to receive a Nobel Peace Prize. Born in the Swat Valley, where the Taliban has banned girls from attending school since the early 21st century, she comes from a family where her father, Ziauddin Yousafzai, is a teacher and owner of a school in the region. From an early age, Malala was educated and literate, receiving the same instruction as her brothers. Thus, she grew up understanding equal rights for boys and girls, especially regarding the right to formal schooling. This study proposes an analysis of Adriana Carranca's biography of Malala, with the aim of identifying the text's purpose, evaluating its effectiveness by examining the use of descriptions of places and situations experienced by the author and the subject, facts and examples, as well as evaluating the writing style, diction, and authorial tone of the text. In terms of its approach, it is a qualitative study, whose central objective is to know, understand, and explain Malala's life story, considering Carranca's narrative. In terms of nature, it is a basic research study; in terms of its objectives, it is an exploratory study; and in terms of its procedures, it is a bibliographic research study. Finally, it is a study that seeks to bring to discussion a work of a feminist nature, capable of placing the discussion of the theme among children aged 10 to 12.
