The present research study aimed to identify the changes that occurred on the coast, with a view to understanding the society-environment relationship, in the municipality of Tibau (RN); in the last ten years (2012 to 2022), emphasizing the changes that occurred on the beaches of Gado Bravo and Emanuelas. A mixed approach was adopted, with bibliographic and documentary research, in addition to field research to collect empirical data. Structured interviews were carried out with public managers and application of semi-structured questionnaires with traders and residents of the Tibau waterfront. In loco observations and photographic records of the study area were also carried out. It was verified the need to emphasize the local geographic spaces to present possible solutions to the current problem of the removal of the original vegetation, with a view to the realization of housing projects. It was found that there is a lack of planning for the use and occupation of the shore, which implies spatial disorganization. Therefore, it is up to the municipal management, together with business support, to propose mitigations on the possible problem with the elaboration of projects that preserve the edge in a dynamic and natural way and allocating adequate soil for the licensing of constructions, aiming at the well-being of the population.
