Abstract

According to Foucault a discussion about to tell the truth and confession is possible only with the exercise of parresia as practice of freedom. To make this excercise are necessary three basics conditions, namely, it must believe in what is said, it must consider the risk in tell the truth and observe the coherence between what is said and its relation with the life. Because this reason, this research will have as object a historic situation, the life of a eighteen century´s philosopher which experienced in his life the cost of confession as well as tell the truth. This philosopher is Jean-Jacques Rousseau which chosen the transparency (the confession), against his opositor´s opacity (those who hide, silence and choque). Between these positions the confession is a act power because the truth is possible amid the texture of existence. This research is based on the Foucault´s Introduction to the Dialogues published in 1962 in Paris. In this article Foucault make a relationship among the Confessions, the Dialogues and the Rousseau´s life.
