Author Guidelines

Submission Conditions

The Brazilian Journal of Tourism Observatories (ReBOT), affiliated with the State University of Rio Grande do Norte (UERN), is dedicated to the publication of original and interdisciplinary scientific works related to Tourism and associated fields.

The publication of submitted manuscripts is subject to the decision of the Editorial Board, based on the recommendations of at least two ad hoc reviewers.

Peer Review Process

Submitted manuscripts undergo an initial screening by the editorial team to assess their compliance with the journal’s scope and submission guidelines.

Manuscripts approved at this stage are forwarded for double-blind peer review, ensuring the anonymity of both authors and reviewers. Editorial decisions are based on the scientific quality, originality, and relevance of the submitted work.

Double-Blind Review Guidelines

To ensure the integrity of the review process, authors must submit manuscripts without any identifying information in the main file, including author names, institutional affiliations, or any other information that may reveal their identity.

Authors' identification details (full name, academic degree, institutional affiliation, city, state, country, and e-mail address) must be provided exclusively in a supplementary file to ensure the integrity of the double-blind peer review process.

The journal accepts submissions from faculty members, researchers, and graduate students. Manuscripts authored by undergraduate students and lato sensu postgraduate students must be submitted in co-authorship with a researcher holding at least a Master's degree.

The maximum number of authors varies according to the manuscript category: up to three (3) authors for articles, essays, book reviews, and translations, and up to twelve (12) authors for bulletins and infographics, provided that the minimum participation of subject-area specialists is ensured.

Authors are solely responsible for the content of their manuscripts and for obtaining permission to use images, tables, figures, or any other third-party materials.

Authors will be notified of editorial decisions through the e-mail address registered in the journal's submission system.

Manuscripts must strictly comply with the journal’s guidelines and requirements; otherwise, they may be rejected.

The Scientific Editorial Board reserves the right to make formal adjustments to manuscripts for standardization purposes, provided that the content remains unchanged. Any substantial modifications will be discussed and agreed upon with the authors in advance. No additions or modifications to the manuscript will be accepted after the completion of the review process and final acceptance. Specific cases will be resolved by the Editorial Committee.

The Authorization and Declaration for Article Publication, duly signed by all authors, must be submitted to the system as a supplementary PDF document if the manuscript is accepted for publication. Templates for these documents will be provided in due course following the reviewers’ recommendation for acceptance.

Authors must also upload, as a supplementary Word document, the following identification information: article title, full name of each author, highest academic degree, institutional affiliation (including city, state/province, and country), and current e-mail address. Foreign authors must indicate their country of origin.

It is important to note that, upon submission to ReBOT, authors are required to provide, as a supplementary document, their respective e-mail addresses and ORCID iDs.

All manuscripts must be submitted online through the journal’s submission system, following the submission instructions and procedures.

Preprint Policy

The Brazilian Journal of Tourism Observatories (ReBOT) accepts the submission of manuscripts previously deposited on preprint servers.

At the time of submission, authors must inform the editor, through the "Comments for the Editor" field, of the existence of a preprint version of the manuscript, providing the corresponding DOI, persistent identifier, or access URL.

ReBOT allows the maintenance and public availability of preprint versions deposited in institutional repositories, subject-specific repositories, and preprint platforms.

The prior deposit of a manuscript on a preprint server does not constitute prior publication and does not prevent the manuscript from undergoing editorial evaluation.

The journal does not accept manuscripts that are simultaneously under review by another scientific journal.
