Abstract

This study analyzes the tourism potential and sustainability aspects of the Madadá Cave, located in the municipality
of Novo Airão, in the state of Amazonas, Brazil, through the application of SWOT analysis as a strategic planning
tool. The research aims to identify internal and external factors that influence sustainable tourism development in
the area, considering its potential, limitations, and challenges. The methodology is characterized as descriptive
and qualitative, based on field visits, direct non-participant observation, and photographic records, which
supported the identification of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats related to the tourist use of the
attraction. The results indicate that the Madadá Cave has significant potential for nature tourism, geotourism,
scientific tourism, and educational tourism due to its geological and landscape uniqueness, as well as its
Amazonian biodiversity. However, challenges were identified, including unorganized visitation, the lack of
environmentalinterpretation mechanisms, and the need for management and monitoring strategies. It is concluded
that tourism development in the area should be guided by sustainable planning practices, combining environmental
conservation, appreciation of natural heritage, and the generation of socioeconomic benefits for the region.
