Abstract

Considering the imminent expansion of higher education in recent years in the Crajubar population arrangement, represented by the cities of Crato, Juazeiro do Norte and Barbalha, located in the southern portion of the State of Ceará, this work seeks to specifically address this phenomenon linked to the socioeconomic transformations in these cities through of that service. In this sense, we emphasize that the expansion policy of higher education is linked to urban changes and regional development policies, which highlights the importance of studies linked to this theme. Through the installation of higher education institutions and concentration of services in their immediate surroundings, we seek to identify the landscapes that constitute the surroundings of these institutions located in Crajubar. We had as a starting point the dimension of the landscape, in which some activities were carried out on the dynamics of commerce and services that agglomerate to meet the demands of students. The methodology was based on a bibliographic survey and field research in order to map this dynamic. It appears that the offer of higher education enables the concentration of dispersed activities, in addition to the constitution of different landscapes at specific times, related to the flows that these institutions attract daily.
