Abstract

Abstract

With urban expansion, green areas provide important ecosystem services that generate material conditions achieved by human beings through nature. Given this scenario, this article aimed to identify the ecosystem services provided by the Professor Maurício de Oliveira Municipal Ecological Park, located in the municipality of Mossoró/RN. For that, the methodologies adopted were the bibliographic review and field studies. During field trips, which were documented throughout the work, photographic records were also made in the Park. The Theoretical Framework constructed was based mainly on the concepts of Ecosystem Services present in the studies of the CICES methodology (Common International Classification of Ecosystem Services). The results showed that the park promotes several beneficial ecosystem services for the municipality and its population, having identified 17 provision ecosystem services, 3 of which are abiotic related to water.
