Abstract

We are in a society marked by narcissistic individuality, by the cult of appearances and the transformation of the body into commodity (as something that can be offered and bought). And the media publicize these new patterns of behavior in order to conquer the beautiful and healthy body, one that is part of the current aesthetic standard. In this context, every day thousands of blogs appear that constitute new discursive practices and instill in women the pattern of beauty that should be pursued. Blogs are new technologies at the service of power that help in the transmission of the knowledge of the body in order to make the exercise of power more efficient. We intend here to analyze, from a Foucault"™s perspective, the power relations of the discourses on the female body and how these discourses operate in the fabrication of subjects of submissive bodies. To that end, we selected Gabriela Pugliesi's blog http://gabrielapugliesi.com/, which is an interaction tool aimed at the female audience whose work is to build and circulate speeches that promote healthy lifestyles characterized by diets restrictive, series of exercises specialized in modeling the body and the ingestion of medications.
