HE LOGICAL STUDY OF LANGUAGE: FREGE, RUSSELL AND THE PROBLEM OF MEANING

The article examines two theories of linguistic meaning: Frege's theory, as stated in two famous articles: "Function and Concept" and "On Sense and Reference" and Russell's Theory, as presented in "On Denotation." These theories were very important for the entire study of semantics developed in the twentieth century in philosophy of language. For the purpose of examining these theories, the problem of meaning under the logicallinguistic approach is presented in general lines. This approach will be the object of many criticisms throughout the 20th century.
