Abstract

This paper aims at analizing the literacy pratices and events of literacy in foreign language (Spanish), carried out by students from high school, more specifically from the 1st year of the state school Doutor José Fernandes de Melo, in Pau dos Ferros, in the West region. This research was based on the following authors: Soares (2006), Kleiman (2005), Irineu (2010), among others, who approach the concept of multiple literacy, literacy practices and events of literacy, from which we have based our analysis in our study. From a metodological perspective, we asked students to answer a questionnaire with items related to literate practices and the literacy events carried out in spanish. In short, the results have shown that the literacy practices carried out by the students are related in the majority, to reading and writing in institutional environment. We can satte that literacy events verified in this research are related to diverse spheres of society, such as school, church and so on.
