BRAZILIAN PORTUGUESE RHOTICS AND ITS INFLUENCE ON ENGLISH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE (EFL) ACQUISITION
Abstract
This research has as its main objective to analyze the construction of rhotic interphonology by Brazilian learners of English as a foreign language (EFL). It presents possible problems faced by Brazilian EFL learners in realizing rhotic phonemes. The exercise implies the necessity of a minute study of the rhotic systems associated to each particular language, besides the various possibilities for Brazilian EFL learners constructing their interphonology.
