THE USE OF CONTEMPORARY LITERATURE AS A TOOL FOR TEACHING READING AND LITERATURE IN HIGH SCHOLL: A PROPOSAL ACCORDING TO PAULO FREIRE PRECEPTS

What is and how is the importance and the function nowadays of reading and literature are important points for discussion in present, due to the fact that more and more individuals are exposed to texts and have the need to analyze them and understand them in a reflective and critically way. According to Paulo Freire since the individual is born he is reading the world, but teach reading is also one of the school functions, and the teachers should use many different tools to prepare their students to be reflective and critics readers. Contemporary literature is available to teachers, schools and students as a tool for teaching reading and literature in the classroom, once by it uses is possible a work that will make students more prepared for a better understanding of other texts, as well as their own reality. In order to see how this is possible, in a real situation, in this article is presented a study case of the application of a contemporary literature, the book Os sete, by André Vianco in a high school in São Paulo, so it wiil be possible the demonstration of the advantages of this type of exercise in the classroom.
